Company: Onyx 360
Job Type: Internship or Co-op

About the Role

At Onyx 360, we are reimagining how industry designs, tests, and runs the systems that power the world — through simulation that connects imagination with reality. Our work bridges the digital and physical, turning engineering theory into real-world performance and solving critical challenges within the process industries.

We’re seeking a motivated intern interested in learning dynamic simulation, industrial processes, and automation from experienced mentors. In this role, you’ll support the development of simulation models, assist with controls integration, contribute to testing activities, and grow into a key contributor on multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience with industrial systems, tools, and workflows and build a solid foundation for a career in process simulation, controls, or digital‑twin technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and testing dynamic process simulations under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Review project inputs such as PFDs, P&IDs, HMBs, and equipment data sheets.
  • Support integration of simulation software with control systems.
  • Help prepare materials for customer demos, acceptance tests, and internal reviews.
  • Participate in team discussions, design reviews, and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Contribute to improving tools, workflows, and documentation as you learn.
  • Explore new technologies, simulation techniques, and automation methods.

Who You Are

  • You’re curious, eager to learn, and excited to work across disciplines.
  • You are motivated by impact: designing solutions that make operations safer, smarter, and more connected.
  • You balance precision and creativity — diving deep into the details while staying curious about the bigger picture.
  • You make learning a priority – you aren’t afraid to ask questions, make and learn from mistakes, and grow quickly from hands‑on experience.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where ideas form quickly from concept to reality.

Requirements

  • Working toward or completed a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or similar).
  • Coursework or interest in process modeling, controls, or industrial systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Clear communication and willingness to collaborate in a team environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to dynamic process simulation software.
  • Familiarity with industrial processes typically found in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Life Sciences, Mining, etc.
  • Interest in control systems(Emerson, Rockwell, Honeywell, etc.).
  • Experience with project‑based engineering, labs, or internships.
  • Basic understanding of virtualization, networking, or industrial automation.
  • Eagerness to learn new tools, methods, and technologies.
