Job Title: Data Integration & Hosting Manager
Location: St. Louis, MO
Company: Onyx 360
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role
At Onyx 360, we are reimagining how industry designs, tests, and runs systems that power the world – through simulation that connects imagination with reality. Our work bridges the digital and physical, turning engineering theory into real-world performance.

We’re seeking a Data Integration & Hosting Manager to design, deploy, and maintain the infrastructure that powers industrial simulation and digital twin environments. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines virtualization, networking, cloud hosting, and industrial connectivity — building the foundation that allows real-time simulation and automation systems to work together seamlessly.

In this role, you’ll architect and manage simulation hosting environments, integrate control systems and data flows, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure platforms. Over time, this role will also help shape how Onyx 360 connects digital models with industrial systems — using common industrial protocols to unify plant data, simulation, and control. If you thrive at the intersection of IT, OT, and simulation, and you’re motivated by building the systems that make industrial innovation possible, this is your opportunity to lead meaningful transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of virtualization and hosting environments for simulation and digital twin systems.
  • Configure and maintain virtual machines, servers, and network architectures that support complex, multi-project infrastructures.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for system setup, version control, access, and cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with project and simulation engineers to ensure environments are reliable, scalable, and customer-ready.
  • Support integration between simulation platforms and control systems through appropriate network and data interfaces.
  • Assist project teams with OT support, including setup of control networks, I/O communication, and interface testing.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement cloud and hybrid hosting solutions to enhance scalability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and templates for repeatable deployment and integration.
  • Continuously improve system reliability, automation, and monitoring across the simulation infrastructure.
  • Mentor and guide engineers on hosting, networking, and data integration best practices.

Who You Are

  • You’re a systems thinker who thrives at the intersection of IT and OT.
  • You enjoy building the backbone — infrastructure that quietly enables everything else to work.
  • You’re hands-on, resourceful, and detail-oriented, able to troubleshoot across hardware, software, and network layers.
  • You take ownership of outcomes and prioritize reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • You’re curious about the evolution of industrial communications and eager to grow your expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems integration, virtualization, or industrial IT/OT environments.
  • Strong experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls) in industrial environments.
  • Experience deploying and managing Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience supporting industrial control systems (Emerson, Rockwell, Honeywell, or others).
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet/IP.
  • Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, network segmentation, and secure remote access.
  • Experience with data integration frameworks (OPC servers, MQTT brokers, REST APIs).
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience with deploying virtualized DCS systems (DeltaV Virtual Studio).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Exposure to simulation hosting or digital twin architectures.
  • Background in consulting or project-based engineering environments.
